  Digital signage is a means of communication based on modern digital media such as large format displays (LFD), led-walls and touch tables.
  Typically, passive and retail-focused, this form of communication is constantly seeking innovative methods to boost user engagement through content and interactive experiences.
  Emerging AI technologies and the broad availability of inexpensive sensors could unlock new possibilities in this domain.
  
  Challenge
  Find innovative ways for retail companies (e.g.sportswear) to use digital signage mediums such as LFDs with sensors and AI services to engage customers to attract and keep them in the stores.
  
  Challenge assumptions

  • LFD could be displays, tablets or ledwallsand can be placed inside, outside or behind windows.
  • You can get information coming from IoT devices (sensors) like:customer proximity, customer image (Webcam), external temperature/humidity as well as TVOCs, NO2, O3.
  • AI help could come from available services or from innovative services built on top of them
  • LFDs can change their brightness or be turned on/off dynamically of needed from remote commands
  • Real usage of the available sensors will be a plus but is not mandatory

  Design and develop a tool for rapid network device identification and analysis based on open-source software. 

  For example, you can use a Raspberry Pi, integrating ntop for traffic monitoring and AI for smart device recognition. 

  The tool should have the following features:

  • LAN Network Connection: Connect to a local network for comprehensive device analysis.

  • User-Friendly Web Interface: Provide a simplified, accessible web interface for users to interact with.

  • Device Recognition: Accurately identify various device types and display essential information about each.

  • Vulnerability Assessment: Based on Security Bulletins make basic Vulnerability Assessment per Device

  Nice to have: Basic Network Analytics: Include fundamental network analytics capabilities for deeper insights. 

  Note: The entire project should be released as open-source software.
