NOI Hackathon Summer Edition
Oachkatzeschwoach
Oachkatzeschwoach is a Meta Quest 3 mixed-reality info point for South Tyrol tourism, built for the Open Data Hub hackathon. A relief model of the real terrain, generated from DTM elevation data and satellite orthophoto, appears life-size on any physical table, auto-detected through the Quest's Scene API. Points of interest from Open Data Hub (hiking trails, huts, restaurants, events) sit anchored to the actual terrain surface, browsable by pointing and pinch-zooming with your hands.
Pinch past a threshold and the model dissolves: the same points fly out and land at their true compass bearing and elevation in the world around you, turning the tabletop map into a live augmented-reality overlay, calibrated against magnetic north and GPS from a companion phone app.
This solution aims at tackling the visualization and usability challenge of OpenDataHub data based on XR technologies. It is future-proof, as our product was design with future XR glasses in mind, currently under development by big companies.
